- Traditional Funeral Services -This type of funeral, often referred to by funeral providers as a "traditional" funeral, usually includes a viewing or visitation and formal funeral service, use of a hearse to transport the body to the funeral site and cemetery, and burial, entombment or cremation of the remains.
- Graveside Services - With a graveside service there is no church or chapel service, however, families can arrange a visitation time the night before as in a traditional service. The tents, chairs, casket, flowers and other equipment are set up prior to the arrival of friends and family.Personal mementos, photographs or video, special music, poetry or readings, and floral arrangements may be used in the graveside service to spark memories of the one who has died.
- Memorial Services - Memorial services may take place within a day or two of death. More often the ceremony is delayed for the convenience or needs of the family. They include many elements of a funeral: eulogies, music, prayers, readings, poetry or other prose and symbolic elements to honor the life of the deceased.
- Direct Cremation - No viewing or visitation is involved, although a memorial service may be held, with or without the cremated remains present. The remains can be kept in the home, buried or placed in a crypt or niche in a cemetery, or buried or scattered in a favorite spot.
